Isleweb Limited, of which AutoPageUpdate.com is a subsidiary company, is a UK company based in Buxton, Derbyshire, on the edge of the beautiful Peak District National Park, the unspoiled land of treasures such as the Blue John, Treak Cliff, Peak, Speedwell and Poole's caverns, sleepy villages such as Edale and Castleton, the world class Bakewell puddings, and the home of delightful real ale from Whim, Leatherbriches and Thornbridge Hall breweries.

Established in late 2004 by programmer Andrew John Sleigh - or AJ for short, and marketing expert Victor George, Isleweb Limited set out to bring some sense to the web industry. Ever since its inception, the web has been hogged by tricksters, hucksters, peddlers and all manners of con merchants, all trying to find an easy way to overnight riches by offering innocent people fake solutions to genuine problems by exploiting the search engines so that their products or services appear at the top of the search engine listings.

These shady merchants are not to blame for this exploitation - the blame lies fairly and squarely right at the doorsteps of the search engine companies, whose wanting software can be easily exploited. Meta tags were easy to exploit, as were site description tags. That was in the early days. Later on it became keywords and phrases, then links and reciprocal links. All these rules could be exploited by those in the know.

Google's Page Rank is currently being exploited, with high-ranking sites offering precious links for cash! Now we have RSS feeds and weblogs being offered (with ads and spam) to cure the fresh content problem currently being experienced by web site owners. What on Earth is going on? Isn't the web supposed to be an alternative way for normal businesses trade honestly?

It is, or it can be, if only ordinary businesses treated it as such.
